Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense), also called creeping thistle, is a perennial herbaceous plant with spiny leaves and pink-purple flower heads. It is invasive in many regions and considered a noxious weed in agriculture, but young shoots and peeled stems are edible and it has a history of use in herbal medicine.
