Pistacia is a genus of drought-tolerant trees and shrubs in the cashew family, native to warm, dry regions of the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Central Asia. Individual species are valued for edible nuts (pistachio), resin (mastic, turpentine), or edible seeds and oil.
