Sweet vernal grass (Anthoxanthum odoratum) is a perennial grass of meadows, heaths and woodland margins across most of Europe, North Africa and western Asia, with a sweet hay-like fragrance from its coumarin content. A tea is made from its fresh or dried leaves, though dried plant material should be used with some caution as coumarins can act as an anticoagulant.1
