Male fern (Dryopteris filix-mas) is an evergreen fern native to Europe, temperate Asia, and North America, one of the most effective traditional treatments for tapeworm. Its young fronds and rhizome are cooked and eaten, but the fresh plant contains thiaminase and should be thoroughly cooked or dried before use.1
