Branched asphodel (Asphodelus ramosus) is a perennial herb found from the Canary Islands across the Mediterranean to Iraq, growing on rocky, dry hillsides. Its starchy tuber is cooked as a food after boiling destroys its acrid principle, and the tuber also yields a yellow dye and a strong glue once pulverized.1
