Dusty miller (Jacobaea maritima) is an evergreen shrub with silvery, felted foliage, native to Mediterranean coasts and naturalized on maritime cliffs elsewhere, including southwest England.1 Its leaf juice has an ophthalmic medicinal use, but the plant contains liver-toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids and should not be used internally.1
