Scotch broom (Cytisus scoparius) is a fast-growing, nitrogen-fixing, deciduous shrub native to Europe. Its flower buds are pickled as a caper substitute and its bark yields fibre and dye, but it is considered invasive in parts of North America and New Zealand.1
