Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) is a low, deciduous shrub native to Europe, from Iceland south and east to Spain and the Caucasus, grown for its small, sweet, dark blue edible berries. It is distinct from the cultivated highbush blueberry (see Vaccinium spp. - Blueberry).
