Meadow buttercup (Ranunculus acris) is a perennial herb native to Europe, including Spain, east through Asia to China and Japan, found on damp meadows and pastures, usually on calcareous soils. All parts of the plant are poisonous and acrid, causing blistering if handled carelessly, though the toxins are destroyed by heat or drying.
