Norway spruce (Picea abies) is an evergreen conifer native to Europe, valued for its timber, resin, and windbreak use. Its young catkins, immature cones, and shoot tips are eaten or made into tea, while its dried inner bark has been used only as an emergency food, ground into flour when other food is unavailable.1
