Sea squill (Urginea maritima, synonym Drimia maritima) is a perennial bulb native to Mediterranean Europe, found in dry sandy places near the coast. The bulb is poisonous in large doses and the fresh bulb’s acrid juice can blister skin; the red-bulbed form is specifically used as a rat poison, while the white-bulbed form is used medicinally.1
