Spanish bayonet (Yucca aloifolia) is a slow-growing, upright evergreen yucca native to the coastal south-eastern United States, where it grows on sand dunes and in pine forests. Its flowers, fruit, and flowering stem are edible, and its leaf fibre makes cordage and basketry. Dense, sharp-tipped leaves make it a useful security Barrier. It reaches 3-4.5 m tall, exceptionally 7.5 m,12 and 0.9-1.5 m wide.2
