Groundsel (Senecio vulgaris) is an annual herb native to Europe, south and east from Scandinavia to N. Africa and temperate Asia, a common weed of roadsides, waste places and arable land. Its young leaves have been eaten as a salad, though this is inadvisable given the plant’s toxicity.
