French lavender (Lavandula stoechas) is an evergreen Mediterranean shrub distinguished from common lavender by its distinctive “rabbit-ear” bracted flower spikes. It has no edible use but is valued for its essential oil, as an insect repellent, and as an ornamental ground cover.
