A terrace is an earth embankment, or a combination ridge and channel, built across a field’s slope to reduce erosion, trap sediment, and retain runoff for moisture conservation.1 It needs a stable outlet, such as a grassed waterway or underground outlet, to safely carry away the runoff it intercepts.1
