Elytrigia repens - Couch grass

Couch grass (Elytrigia repens) is a rhizomatous perennial grass of Europe, North Africa, Siberia and North America, and a constituent of cold semi-arid continental steppe grassland.¹ Its starchy rhizomes have been used as a food and coffee substitute, and its roots are a long-standing diuretic herbal remedy.²
