Desert almond (Prunus fasciculata) is a deciduous shrub of cold semi-arid desert washes and dry slopes across the North American Southwest, its fruit considered a delicacy by several native peoples. As with other Prunus species, the seed contains cyanogenic compounds and should not be eaten if it tastes bitter.
