Intermediate wheatgrass (Thinopyrum intermedium) is a long-lived perennial grass of the cold semi-arid steppes of Europe and western Asia, from Spain to central Asia. Its seed is eaten as a grain and the plant is widely used to stabilize disturbed soils; it can become weedy or dominate a site where it is well adapted.
